What is an Instagram Story?
Short answer
An Instagram Story is a photo or short video shown full screen that disappears after 24 hours. In a brand collaboration the creator shows the product in an ordinary, everyday situation and can add a link or a question sticker. The material mainly reaches people who already follow them and check the profile regularly.
What exactly is an Instagram Story?
Stories are watched one after another, full screen and usually with sound, so the format sits close to a conversation: the creator talks to the camera as if writing to a friend. The material lives for a day, so it does not have to be polished in every frame. What counts is that it shows the product in use and ends with a clear indication of what to do next.
What does a Stories collaboration look like?
A typical set of slides in a paid collaboration looks like this:
The first slide sets the context: a problem, a situation or a question the creator gets from followers.
The second shows the product in hand and in use, usually with live commentary and no editing.
The third gives something concrete: the ingredients, how to use it, or a discount code if the contract provides for one.
The last one carries the link and a clear advertising disclosure, visible for the whole time the slide runs.
Why do brands order Stories?
Because Stories reach the most active part of the community and let you measure the response straight away: views, link taps and replies in messages. For a brand it is a quick test of the message before a bigger campaign. For a creator it is cheaper to produce than an edited video, so it is easier to build regular, repeatable work out of it instead of a one-off post.

Frequently asked questions
Is it worth ordering a single Story?
Rarely. One slide is easy to swipe past, so brands usually order a series: an introduction, the product on screen and a close with the link. A viewer remembers a series, because they come back to it several times over the same day.
Does a Story have to be labelled as advertising?
Yes. Paid collaborations and barter require a clear disclosure inside the material itself, not just in the arrangements with the brand. The label should stay visible on the slide for the whole time it runs.
What is left after 24 hours?
The material itself disappears, but it can be saved to highlights if that was agreed in the task. The creator passes on the statistics as screenshots, usually right after the run ends.
