Glossary/Creator

Who is a creator?

Short answer

A creator is a person who makes content — films video, takes photos, writes. Unlike an influencer they do not need a large community: a brand can buy the material alone from them and publish it on its own channels. What they sell is a skill, not reach.

What exactly does a creator do?

They fill orders: a video showing a product in use, a set of photos for the shop, a short piece to camera for an ad. They know the formats, they know how to set the light and how long a shot can run before it gets boring after two seconds. Here the portfolio is what account statistics are for an influencer.

How is a creator different from an influencer?

In what the brand buys. From an influencer it buys the post — the material stays with them and works through their reach. From a creator it buys the file and decides for itself where to show it. One person can be both, but the settlement, the price and the rights to the material look different in each case.

Why does this distinction matter when you order?

Because it decides what you are paying for. If you need content for your own advertising, look for a creator and write the scope of rights into the task. If you need to reach someone else’s community, look for an influencer and look at who watches them.

Already know what you need?

Describe the task: the format, the deadline and the amount or the barter. Creators from your industry will apply on their own, and you choose from the applications.

Frequently asked questions

Does a creator need an account with followers?

No. On orders for material what counts is the portfolio and whether you can show a product in use. Reach only starts to matter when a brand wants the post on your profile.

Who owns the rights to material that was ordered?

Whoever wrote it into the task. Without an agreement the rights stay with the creator — the brand should state where it publishes, in which market and for how long.

How does a creator set their rate?

By format and workload: the number of shots, the editing time, the number of revisions and the scope of rights. We give market ranges for individual industries next to the niches.
